the two faces of katrina

thursday night i was simultaneously watching katrina halili on tv and on my cellphone (the scandal video) and it really had me thinking.

i saw two very different persons.

one was crying foul and was out to gain sympathy, and seeking justice over the spreading of their sex scandal which was being passed on from phone to phone and via web faster than a bushfire.

the other was totally wild and is very much into giving herself and her partner what i wittingly call "pleasures of the flesh"

talk about precarious relationships. lacking in security. and more of what-can-i-use-you-for types. you tend to get used and abused. oh well, for the glitter and glamour of showbiz. pfft.

i'm not out to judge any parties for that matter, we all have our own say for every issue.

my two cents on the matter?

be responsible for all your actions. and get ready for the consequences.

in everything that you do, HAVE PRESENCE OF MIND. BE MATURE ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG.

acrophobia and footbridges

so let me start by admitting i have this very very intense fear of heights (acrophobia).

in malls, even in school, i refrain from going near the railings of the corridors lest i might, or SURE WILL, get off-balanced or get dizzy. dunno, even if i have the urge to overcome it, my legs get really shaky and my palms sweaty whenever i try to get close to what seems to me an endless, bottomless pit. that's probably why i don't enjoy mall shows. haha!

last week, me and my friend went to MOA and decided to go to market market afterwards. at the corner of edsa and taft ave., we alighted from the jeepney and took the footbridge to mrt taft station.

ALAS.

my knees started to tremble as we climbed the footbridge and sweat started to drip. the hell with MMDA for making it with open view steps. i hate the fact we "acrophobians" have to suffer everytime we use these footbridges. do we have to suffer the burden for being law-abiding citizens? lols. they should've made it a cemented and roofed footbridge instead.

my zipline adventure in davao!

this is just a teaser of our adventure trip in davao with my friends. this is a video of my zipline adventure. i was holding the camera while zooming 400 meters to the other end of the zipline. was it fun? that would be an understatement. i was with vanj in this video but you can hardly hear her. it was me who was screaming all through out!

baler

i really don't have plans of watching this movie in the first place because the title itself failed to tickle my curiosity. but for three reasons i managed to convince myself to do so:

- it won the best picture award in the recent MMFF-Philippines
- my good friend Lester was part of the team in-charge of research in this movie (good job! *klap klap klap*)
- i got some "semi" free tickets to any movies in the film fest in any cinema (you only pay P5 at the ticket booth ^_^)

and so with the measly amount i didn't expected too much from this movie.

but it turned out that i was able to convince myself that every peso i will pay for watching it even without the free ticket is very much worth its value.

baler is a movie set during the spanish era and is about how the locals fought for their liberation. and amidst the war and wary it also tells of a love story of a native (feliza played by anne curtis) and a half spanish soldier (celso played by me, i mean jericho rosales) and how they defied and battled all the odds to prove their love despite the strong objection of feliza's parents.

there are a lot of interesting points in this story and if you are some kind of a history buff you'll really enjoy watching it. how the spanish soldiers stayed for almost a year inside the town chapel to serve as their base and shelter, the treacheries, and the turn of events.

all in all, the movie was well done with the help of the great actors and a real good story line. i'd say it is really deserving of its award and a really nice movie to watch.

and the place. i never thought baler is such a paradise. would consider visiting it sometime.

goodbye 2008, hello 2009!

new year. new beginnings.

looking back at 2008, i find it futile to have regrets. many things have happened, so many changes and challenges. the blessings are plenty and i'm just thankful that i was able to survive another year to see 2009 with greater optimism.

there are so many things to be thankful for for the past year. good health for me and my family, stable career, new friends, travelled places and everything. what a lucky being i am indeed. hopefully others were able to be thankful also for the blessings they received, be it big or small, just for the fact that they survived 2008 is already something to be thankful for.

for this year, i am just hoping that everything will turn out just right and probably better than the past year. hopefully i can iron out some misunderstandings with people close to my heart. for this year i am also looking forward to some greater opportunities in different aspects.

with help from God and a positive outlook, i know everything will be a breeze.

facing 2009 head on!
